Fear is overwhelming in the room of cold white walls and hospital beds. Ash Buchholz is here of his own volition, surrounded by the nauseating comforts of buzzing florescent bulbs, and doctors who dole out incessant portion cups of pharmaceuticals. Instead of seeking solace from his personal mental prison, Ash has been cast into the depths of its inky blackness.
This is the psych ward of Markham Stouffville hospital through the eyes of a 25-year-old who is as equally gifted as confused. Left to the guidance of western medicine he feels unnatural and emotionally detached; just another zombie in the reality of mental afflictions. But when Buchholz was given Eastern Mind, Western Body: Psychology and the Chakra System as a Path to the Self by a case worker, was he able to finally find the strength to stand up, and enter the gates to his own future.
…Buchholz was on the same path as Kurt Cobain, one his most respected musicians. Drugs, doubt, and a lack of perspective…
In a time of anti-heroes masquerading as role models, Ash Buchholz shines as a luminous exception. Baring the chiseled body of a Soviet era cold-war athlete, Buchholz’s physical stature stands as a testament to his dedication to physical labour and hard work. To this day, he is still employed as a roofer in the summer. Buchholz represents one half of the independent drum ‘n strum sensation Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker (USS). Along with his long time friend and DJ, Jason “Human Kebab” Parsons, this duo has surpassed the expectations of fans and critics alike. Through his labyrinth of lulling lyrics, Buchholz reveals his spiritual journey in overcoming the assault of addictions.
But a book alone could not be the single event to change Ash’s reality, it was just the catalyst.
