The Boot Camp Diaries: Week 1

Being out of shape is something that I can’t blame on the economy. Although, when it crashed, apparently so did my diet. I should’ve known it wasn’t going to end well when fast food started going on sale. From that point on, my daily routine of brushing twice a day didn’t even come close to cutting it as exercise anymore. It was inevitable, I pulled out my little black book and I scheduled a date with “Gym”.

“Gym” and I haven’t had the best of relationships. Curiously, it was the most stable when I was old enough to think that swimming like a fish might somehow turn me into a mermaid. Needless to say, when that illusion broke, I had trouble committing. However, this time, I’m promised that things are different. This time I’m going to Best Body Boot Camp –willfully.

…bootcamp is the only one that’s actually getting results AND doesn’t require participants to reluctantly naughty bump a pole…

Toronto is a city full of exercise fads that come and go, but the bootcamp is the only one that’s actually getting results AND doesn’t require participants to reluctantly naughty bump a pole. However, all good regimes have a penance to pay, and Best Body Boot Camp, I’m afraid is three nights a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For the girl who has to schedule time to go to the grocery store, this is going to be interesting.

First night, I nervously filled my Dasani bottle with water, normally pre-drinking anything that requires maintaining a buzz is strictly verboten at these sorts of functions. I had worked myself up into a mild internal tizzy complete with barking drill sergeants and mocking hardbodies; I could’ve done with something to take the edge off.
